Thanksgiving has come and gone, and we're now in the full swing of the Christmas season. The Justin Bieber Christmas Album is on repeat, and I've been digging through my closet to put together some Christmas event-going outfits. 2017 Winter fashion is simple, textured, and sleek, so I have 3 formulas for holiday fashion this year:
S E M I - F O R M A L
For more formal events, go for easy pieces that speak for themselves. The holidays are the perfect time to wear anything with sequins, and long sleeves with a short hem flatters all body types. Tights or stockings will keep you warm and classy in a piece like this sequin cocktail dress. When you wear something flashy and eye-catching, keep your jewelry to a minimum, like this Sole Society fabric wrapped cuff. Above-the-knee hems usually call for a heel closer to the floor, so these pale-pink d'Orsay flats from Gap.
D R E S S Y - C A S U A L
When you're headed to an office event or a church christmas party that's more on the dressy side but not quite to cocktail dresses and blazers, keep it simple and sweet. Take a piece you'd wear everyday like this lace-up back sweater and dress it up with a skirt. This black mini-skirt is a great versatile piece that you can wear with basically everything. If short isn't your style, then wear something in the same family like a long black maxi dress and layer a fun, textured sweater like this over it. Add some fun, flirty earrings and a bangle, and you'll be ready to eat Christmas tree shaped h'orderve platters all night long.
C A S U A L
If you're off to a casual Christmas get-together with friends, keep it Khloe Kardashian. Wear your favorite pair of high-waisted jeans with an easy black bodysuit. No muss, no fuss. Go for a neutral color palette and add metallics like these gold bangles and earrings. Top your outfit off with your best black heels and you'll be the best dressed in the white-elephant gift exchange.
These days, there's a Christmas for everything, and you know you can't wear the same Christmas sweater to them all, trust me, I've tried. So mix it up this year with some holiday dresses! Work, Glam, Fam, I've got you covered.
A rich, holiday burgundy and some warm and cozy, lace up booties. I wore my favorite, super tiny and dainty "California" necklace and some big and shiny studs. Add matching lipstick and big bouncy curls.
Classy and simple. A little-black, leather dress with a gold bib necklace and some suede lace-up shoes. I used a neutral but shiny brown lipgloss and wore my hair in beachy waves.
Dress: Forever 21
Bib Necklace: Target
Someone always throws a glam-y holiday party, and this outfit is perfect for any sequin Christmas soiree. I wore a little off-the-shoulder top, some basic black booties, and my favorite gold sequin skirt in the world. Add red lipstick and dangly earrings.

Lipstick is a girl's best friend for Christmas party season ❤
Here's a little lip guide for your upcoming lipstick-wearing season.
If you're a one-time-lipstick wearer, and you just want a little color on your lips for a Thanksgiving with the fam or a Christmas party or two, I get you. You want to add some fun flair but you don't want to break the bank on a one or two wear stick of make-up. If that's you, grab a tube of Revlon or Elf. You may have to re-apply a few times during the night, but it easy and inexpensive. Try some deep and rich dark red tones with some simple cat-eye makeup or a smokey eye. If you're a lipstick all the time kind of person, try mixing it up with warm shades of brown. NYX's "Lingerie" glosses are smooth and glossy and comes in twelve toasty shades. Warm tones like these are super complimentary to natural makeup looks. If you're a girl who is all about the good for you beauty, pick up a tube of Burt's Bees lipstick. It's great for your lips and comes in a range of fun tones. If you're going for a "I just walked off of the set of Frozen the broadway musical show" sort of look, go for light and glossy pinks. The more shimmer, the better. Mac and Lipshine have some bubbly, light pinks and light, shiny shades.
Holiday Party coming up? Don't sweat it! Holiday parties are the most fun because you can dig deep in your closet and resurrect all of your glitter, sequins, and red lipstick.
Go for dark and rich colors, bold eyes, and fun prints and textures like this crushed velvet top, fur vest, and sequined maroon choker. My formula for Christmas parties is One bold color, one statement piece, and one texture to match, topped off with dark, matte lipstick.
If you're a Christmas fanatic, and especially if you aren't, you definitely need a good and solid Christmas playlist to amp you up for the Christmas parties and holiday lines at Best Buy. You know what I'm talking about. There's some Jesus lovin' music, a few oldies but goodies, and some under the mistletoe with Justin Bieber. Sue me.
Add a few to your list this year ❤
I'm usually a grinch. The biggest. But this year, on November 1st, I had some pumpkin spice creamer and I listened to a Justin Bieber Christmas song, and I converted to the early bird Christmas side. I know, I know. I said I never would, and look at me now. But once you get the bug, you can't get rid of it, so here's a little early-bird-sneak-peak and shopping guide to the Christmas trends this year!
This year, the trends are so fun and fresh. The rustic feel is back, but say goodbye to Mason jars and raffia, because it's been reinvented. I like to describe it as really sparkly and classy lumberjack. Look for things like buffalo check, fur, and warm, glittery, gold tones.
